ANOTHER very
short tree. Our grandmother, Irene Maitland, said that her
Uncle worked
as book-keeper in the court of King
Chulalongkorn of Siam and
eventually married one of
the princesses, representing the King at the Delhi
Durbar. I
haven't yet found any evidence to support this. Our Maitlands are
thought to have
hailed from Galashiels and there is supposed to be a connection with
the Black Watch Regiment though, again, I haven't found any
corroborating records.
