ALL descendancy charts follow the surname only and exclude people born within the last hundred years.
• Linked names will take you to the chart for that surname, with the focused person at the top of the page...
• Unless the linked name is at the top of the tree, in which case, you'll land back on the chart of direct ancestors.
• Hovering over a name, date or event should reveal brief source information.
• Smartphones mess up the layout. Rotating to landscape mode can make things a bit more readable.
AUGUSTE de Labouïsse-Rochefort was born into the French aristocracy and suffered imprisonment, along with his mother, during the Terror. He was a published poet and writer of travel works and philosophical pieces. His marriage to Eleonore seems to have been a genuine love-match: what fortune he had was spent in helping her father recover from post-revolution losses, and his collection 'Les Amours, à Eleonore' was a celebration of married love. In later life he became a printer-publisher as well as an author, and would tell people he loved books more than money. On his death he left little wealth, but a library of 12,000 books. His daughter Hortense took over the running of his publishing house.
